Hello, my name is Dr. Griggs. I've been a psychologist for over two decades. People come to see me for answers. Over the years, I've discovered that people want quick answers. In the last several years I've discovered people don't even want to spend time reading self-help books. I'm told they're too long.

A while ago a client with severe anxiety suggested I write a concise book about it. She wanted something to remember what we did in therapy, among other things. She said the book should be pithy (full of "substance") but not lengthy. It should be to the point, not too technical and written in everyday language. It should have everything one needs to diagnose anxiety using my experience.

I talked it over with lots of clients. They liked the concept. They suggested that the ebook should have rating scales and charts for do-it-yourself types. It should be easy to understand, have an informal (friendly) tone and be written in ordinary English (just like I'm writing now). It should have the latest research and represent the current standards of care. There should be treatment options. It should be cheaper than a self-help book and easier to obtain (as in an immediate download). It should be a stand-alone product, not just a text to go along with therapy. It should speed up therapy, since what's in the book is what I present in the office, but it should also allow anyone to start with their own experience, then follow along with my thinking, and be able to diagnose their own anxiety. (If you don't want to begin therapy but just want to really dig into your anxiety symptoms, this is your ebook.)

So, I spent a year writing just such an ebook, by hand, in between clients. Then I got lazy and let it sit for five years. Then, last year another client said, "You should write a book about anxiety ...." Okay, okay. I transcribed my original work and brought it up to speed with the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (psychology's Bible). I had it reviewed by colleagues and lots of clients, just to make sure it is as I'm describing it. It is.

If you're going to start therapy for anxiety, consider first downloading my ebook. If you're not sure, that's okay, too. During the course of therapy, you'll hear at least some of what is in the ebook. I've found that progress is greatly accelerated when you have advanced information before scheduling that first appointment. ("Chance favors the prepared mind.") If you just want information and not therapy, this ebook provides just that, from a practicing clinician's point of view.

"How to Diagnosis and Treat Your Anxiety"

How

Meanwhile, another client said, "You should write a book about changing children's behavior." Well, I am a child psychologist and in the office I do talk a lot about how to deal with kids. So, I wrote a second ebook. I'm getting very good reviews on this book, too.

Like the first book, I tried to write in plain language about a to-the-point (and very popular) subject. Parents really like this one even though I don't bill it as a "parenting" book. (Go to the "Children's Behavior" page for more on that...) I've included the concepts, techniques, etc. I've found that work over two decades. As usual, there is solid research and industry standard information. Like the ebook on anxiety, there is no fat. This ebook, like the one above is cheaper than my competition (the book stores) and immediately available via download. You can read more about that and check it out also by clicking on its title:

When a client read my second ebook, he said, "You should write ebooks about other subjects. Here's some suggestions." He gave me a bunch of good ideas. I'm currently working on a third one, "How To Repair A Crummy Self-Image."

And, here's a link to view the current list of suggested topics for future ebooks. I'm writing and writing and writing . .
